Child Abuse Help

Child abuse help is often hard to come by. We don't want to ask because in order to do so we have to re-open a psychic wound that we've buried deep in our unconscious in order to avoid the pain. But we also know that as long as our pain is buried it still exists and subtly and powerfully affects us every day of our lives.

Talking about it with others who share the same burden can be very therapeutic;

...that's one of the reasons why organizations like Alcoholics Anonymous are so successful in helping people come out of their personal darkness. There's just something comforting about knowing that "I'm not alone."

I've built this "Child Abuse Help" page in order to allow readers to ask questions of others who've walked a similar path.

Now let's be perfectly honest (and cautious) here; I am not a doctor and I suspect that most, if not all, of those who contribute to this community are not doctors either. But as I stated on my "About Me" page,

"My purported expertise on the topics presented here was not acquired in the theoretical environs of the classroom, nor did I learn them solely from reading Napoleon Hill in the comfort of my easy chair. Rather, I learned them by experiencing them."

Counselors and therapists are invaluable resources to those who are attempting to recover from child abuse. But all the knowledge in the world cannot substitute for the understanding that comes from being beaten, molested or otherwise emotionally abused.
