Conscious Mind

***z-headeradsense.shtml***

The conscious mind is "the boss" of human creativity and achievement.

generalikeIts job is to envision an end and in so doing initiate the creative process that ultimately ends up as the accomplished goal. Conscious mind says "Invade France" and creates compelling reasons for doing so. Unconscious mind receives the order and with emotionally detached efficiency sets about arranging all aspects of the Allied invasion of France on June 6, 1944. That successful completion, initiated by General Dwight Eisenhower's simple directive, set in motion a military machine consisting of over 5,000 Allied planes, an equal number of ships and 195,000 soldiers, sailors and marines. Conscious mind says, "Do it!"; unconscious mind gets it done.

But despite its apparent power and importance, the workings of the conscious mind are merely the "tip of the iceberg" when it comes to human achievement. titanic icebergIt's the tiny piece of ice that the passengers on the Titanic saw as the ship's hull was ripped like tinfoil be the unseen part below the surface of the sea. It is the push that gets the boulder rolling but it is the unconscious mind that turns that potential energy into the kinetic that gets it to the bottom of the hill, crushing anything that has the misfortune to get in its way.

Your conscious mind selectively provides awareness of things that are going on around us in real time—and then promptly forgets them;

...conscious mind has a memory span of about 6-10 seconds. Its fortes are thinking, analyzing and making decisions based on the calculations that are taking place below the surface in the unconscious mind. It is the font from which springs the creativity that takes form in the unconscious mind.

This description of the mind you "know" is meant in no way diminish its importance. Rather, I use it as an introduction to the incredible power that lies in the recesses of your brain and gets things done.

In any ordered structure there are leaders and their subordinates;

...queen bootcampbees and worker bees, bosses and laborers, sales managers and salesmen, officers and enlisted men. Behind every pop star is an army of supporting characters; writers, producers, sound men, publicists—the list goes on. And behind every human success is an ordered string of events, each beginning with a creative idea articulated by the conscious mind and sent as an order to the unconscious—where things get done.
